What is Equine Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a natural primary health care system which is scientifically based but is expressed as an art. It works by restoring structure and function to the musculoskeletal system in the event of sprains or injury to both animal or human. By taking away the restrictions that cause pain or reduced function it promotes healing allowing the horse to work to its full potential. Osteopathy does not require the use of drugs so horses can return to sporting events reasonably quickly.

  • Reluctance to trot/canter on certain reins
  • Problems with head carriage
  • Changes in behaviour: bucking, rearing, kicking and bolting
  • Stiffness in the older horse
  • Maintaining mobility in competition horses
  • Aiding rehabilitation after injury and in diagnosed conditions such as arthritis
